MUSIC PUPS Ages 0-5
SUNRISE Ages 2-3 (pre-keyboard)
SUNSHINE Ages 3 1/2-4 (beginner piano)
This beginners keyboard program is designed to introduce young children to music in a positive way. Students at this age benefit from contact with other children and parents in a class environment.
Sunshines learn the music alphabet from A-G, recognize patterns by ear and are able to play them on the keyboard. They learn listening skills and team participation. The program includes large muscle movements in beat and rhythm, as well as fine motor movements in rhythm instrument ensemble playing. Sunshines learn fun songs that help reinforce concepts, as well as enhance fine motor skills in individual fingers through games and finger play. By the end of the year, Sunshines are playing in C major and middle C positions and are reading from the staff. Fun pre-reading exercises -such as like and different sorting, looking for patterns with visual aids, gluing and colouring- are part of the program.
Regular keyboard practice is a required element of this program, but practices should be kept short (5-10 minutes a day) and fun!! Students will get to play in a recital at the end of the music year.
The Sunshine program runs for 36 weeks from September through to June.
Cost is $648 for the year ($18/lesson) and payments can be maid with post-dated cheques, dated the 1st of the month for 9 months (September - May) $72.00 each cheque.
There is a $170 registration fee (which includes registration, books, materials and taxes). Materials include 3 large Music Books, MYC canvas carrying bag, CD, teaching aids (tin sheet & magnets, etc) and Homework/Activity Book.
